STREAMLINE EUROCUP - JOKER REGATTA TROFEO SANTARELLI 2009: TRE PROVE SABATO DUE DOMENICA. SI SONO CONCLUSE OGGI CON 8 PROVE DI REGATA LE DUE MANIFESTAZIONI DEDICATE ALLE CLASSI STREAMLINE E JOKER. TRA GLI STREAMLINE VINCE ALEX MERTENS (GER 2073) DOPO UN APPASSIONANTE DUELLO CON SVEN RUGGESIEK (GER 2076), NELLA CLASSE JOKER DOMINIO DI OLIVIER CHABLAIS (SUI 19).
Riva del Garda...domenica 6 settembre...La Fraglia Vela Riva ha ospitato in questi giorni, da venerdi' 4 a domenica 6 settembre, la Streamline Eurocup e la Joker Regatta Trofeo Santarelli 2009, due appuntamenti fissi da alcuni anni nel mese di settembre presso il Circolo. Il primo giorno entrambe le flotte hanno dovuto affrontare condizioni assai impegnative con vento a 12- 14 m/s, disputando tre faticosissime prove, mentre ieri il vento ha spirato per tutto il pomeriggio intorno ai 10 m/s. Oggi con segnale d'avviso alle 9.00 le flotte sono uscite con vento da nord che dagli iniziali 8 m/s e' poi via via vistosamente calato.
Tra gli Streamline, presenti a Riva con 19 imbarcazioni, vince Alex Mertens (GER 2073), (4,1,1,(9)1,1,3,(dnc)) dopo un appassionante duello con Sven Ruggesiek (GER 2076) (2,3,2,(5),2,2,2,(dnc )). Bronzo per Joerg Moessnang (GER 2058) (1,4,5,(8),5,3,(ocs),5).
Nella classe Joker dominio sempre piu' evidente durante la tre giorni di Olivier Chablais (SUI 19) (1,3,1,3,1,3,1,(9)), secondo posto nella classifica finale di Andreas Kunze (GER 102) (3,2,2,2,6,1,(9),(10)), bronzo per Stefan Lindner (AUT 46) (4,(5),5,1,3,2,(dsq),3). I Joker erano presenti quest'anno a Riva con 15 imbarcazioni.

STREAMLINE EUROCUP 2009 - JOKER REGATTA TROFEO SANTARELLI 2009: EACH OF THESE 2 EVENTS WRAPPED TODAY. THREE RACES SAILED PER EVENT ON SATURDAY; TWO PER EVENT ON SUNDAY. THE STREAMLINE CLASS EVENT CONTESTED A TOTAL OF 8 RACES IN ALL. SAME NUMBER OF TOTAL EVENT RACES FOR THE JOKER CLASS.
ALEX MERTENS (GER 2073) AND CREW ARE WINNERS OF THE STREAMLINE EUROCUP 2009. AND DESPITE THE SLEEK-SOUNDING NAME OF THE STREAMLINE SAILBOAT ITSELF, THE BATTLE FOR THIS EUROCUP'S TOP SPOT DID PROVE TO BE TURBULENT INDEED. AFTER A CHALLENGING 3-DAY COMPETITION WITH MERTENS, SVEN RUGGESIEK (GER 2076) AND CREW ENDED THE EVENT IN SECOND.
MEANWHILE, OLIVIER CHABLAIS (SUI 19) DOMINATED THE JOKER CLASS TROPHY EVENT BY A MARGIN OF SIX POINTS.
Riva del Garda...Sunday, September 6, 2009...September 4th through the 6th (this Friday through this Sunday), two annual appointments were hosted by Fraglia Vela Riva: Streamline Eurocup's 2009 edition and also the Joker Regatta Trofeo Santarelli 2009. Streamliners convening in Riva to compete in this year's edition totalled 19. Meanwhile, 15 competitors participated in the 2009 Joker Class event.
Tough sailing conditions for Friday's opening day of competition: strong wind blowing around 12 �?? 14 meters-per-second. Each of the respective events' fleets sailed 3 races under those conditions. Easy? Hardly...but very Garda, this, yes.
Saturday's wind blew steadily all afternoon around 10 m/s. And today (Sunday), the crews of both events hit the water with a warning signal at 9 AM. Northerly wind powered this morning's races. Initially, windspeeds began around 8 m/s: yet another good sailing day. As the morning progressed, wind and waves calmed to milder levels.
Final results for the Streamliners: helmsman Alex Mertens and crew (GER 2073) (scores 4, 1, 1, (9), 1, 1, 3, (dnc)) battled their way to victory. Sven Ruggesiek (GER 2076) and crew, über-serious contenders themselves, took second in this Eurocup (scores 2, 3, 2, (5), 2, 2, 2, (dnc)). Bronze for Joerg Moessmang and crew (GER 2058) (scores 1, 4, 5, (8), 5, 3, (ocs), 5).
Olivier Chablais (SUI 19) dominated the Joker Class event (scores 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, 3, 1, (9)) by a six-point margin. Second spot in the final overall scores and rankings for Andreas Kunze (GER 102) (3, 2, 2, 2, 6, 1, (9) (10)). Bronze for Stefan Lindner (AUT 46) (4, (5), 5, 1, 3, 2, (dsq), 3).
